NEW BLOG : HIS NOT SO PERFECT HOUSEWIFE
"Because life is messy and imperfect - but HE isn't"

WOW!  Seriously, wow!  I must begin by telling you that as much as I love to read, few books have truly captured my attention that were not fantasy, mystery or suspense of some kind.  A few historical fiction novels have been delights over the years, but I cannot recall one non-fiction book that captured my heart and moved me to laugh and cry and pursue others to join me in appreciation.  There are books that are interesting to read, books that are well done, books that keep you up late and night and books like this one, that are all of these and also tug at your heart.   I laughed (out loud), I cried (tears streaming down my face) and I smiled.
This true-life story centers around two men from two different worlds, the woman who made a difference and a God who works in mysterious and gracious ways.  One man a wealthy art dealer and another who grew up the poorest of the poor in America, their lives collide. Their lives were vastly opposed and only God could have woven the tapestry that unfolds in this story.

Through reading this book I had an opportunity to be touched in my heart about my own prejudices, snobbery and self righteousness.  When we reflect on the way we think things ought to be, and then see the way that God works we are sometimes confronted with differences in execution that make us wonder.  When we take these musings to our Lord, he can shed His wisdom in a way that brings light out of darkness.  We can grow in our relationship with the Lord as we realize that He sees all things, things that we do not, and His ways truly are better than our ways.

To tell you too much detail about the story would, in my opinion, ruin some of the heartfelt moments you might experience by reading this book for yourself.  What I can tell you is that Lynn Vincent deserves great praises for weaving the story together in such an easy to read, personable and quickly engaging style.  I enjoy books that switch point of view from one person to another, chapter by chapter.  This is how the story is told, from Ron’s perspective and from Denver’s.  To me this style really helped draw constant interest.  There is subtle humor and simple provocative thoughts provided throughout.  You are brought into the thoughts and feelings of each of these two men and want to keep reading more, rather, hear them tell their tales.

Share in the laughter and the tears of life events by picking up this book!  Who knows, you may even learn some simple and profound truths about life and about God. You may be moved in ways you didn’t think you could be.
